There are few things better than a good burger, and this burger truly shines for us keto diet folks. Not only does the ground turkey give it a good flavorful base, but a juicy delicious burger with goat cheese pretty much guarantees every bite will light up your taste buds. Don’t believe us?
Just give it a try and see what you think for yourself! Add your burger to a salad for a heartier meal or serve it up with seasoned zucchini fries or veggies and yum yum sauce to dip in! This is a terrific and healthy alternative to your burger cravings!
Mix your seasonings—salt, pepper, oregano, thyme—into a small bowl.
Cut 4 slices of goat cheese roughly ¼ inch thick. (This isn't all of your goat cheese. You'll use the rest in a later step.)
Grab one of your four portions of ground turkey, and form it into two thin patties. Wetting your hands first may help keep the turkey from sticking. Grab one of your slices of goat cheese you just cut, and place it between the two turkey patties or on top, and gently flattening.
Repeat the above step with each of the other three turkey portions and chevre slices.
Heat just enough oil (avocado or olive) in a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat to lightly cover the surface of the skillet. As the skillet warms, season the top of each burger patty with a little bit of your seasoning mix, then place each patty in the skillet seasoning side down. Cook seasoning side down until that side is lightly browned; this should be about five minutes.
As the seasoning side of the burger patty browns, lightly seasoning the side facing up on each burger patty. At the end of your five minutes, or when the bottom of the patties are browned, flip the burgers over, so that your most recently seasoned side is now face down. Place the goat cheese remnants (crumbled or sliced; your preference) over the burger patties so it can melt, and cook an additional five to eight minutes, or until cooked to your preference.
You may wish to use the broiler to lightly toast the goat cheese to finish, though that's a matter of personal preference.
